No thoughts? I'd be happy of libtool left it as "-lfreetype", but I specifically asked for a different freetype library (/sw/xt/gdlib/2.0.35/cnl2.2_pgi9.0.3/freetype-2.3.11/lib). Why is it setting it to /usr/lib64/libfreetype.so? This also happens with libjpeg.

Forgive my ignorance about libgd; I'm just bumbling around trying to compile it as a dependency for something else. I was able to get libgd 2.0.36RC1 to compile under mingw by making a few modifications:
1) In gd_jpeg.c add #define HAVE_BOOLEAN just above #include "jpeglib.h"
This prevents a conflicting typedef in jmorecfg.h (from libjpeg) from being invoked.

Just an idea, but `target color' as an augmented parameter, to be affected by the filter and other ones unchanged, may be useful.
With it we can easily obtain the following UFO ray's effect:

OK, to be honest I didn't verify how 2.0.35 works with a clean build, so it's probably a thing the FreeBSD port maintainer added. My apologies.
It does say "libs required for linking against GD library" in the config options, which can easily be read to say the existing behavior is correct.

hi,
This problem is known. That's why we have begun to work on gd-pango, which supports RTL rendering as well as many other features. It is available through CVS and it has its own bug tracker (switch to gd-pango).
GD has its development mailing list, use it to discuss it instead of external groups :)

Yes we have this problem with Perl wrapper. This wrapper (GD.pm) is used in OTRS graphical reports. I tested this with GD Sharp (.Net wrapper) too and the same problem exists there. What does it mean when PHP developers claim that they have not any problem with GD Library and such a Right-To-Left script like Persian (Farsi) while we HAVE the problem in Perl and C# wrappers
