Hi Hannes & Philip, I have been researching Yahoo Boss, and it looks like there are a number of ways we could improve on the existing search (I'm not referring to the autocomplete search, but rather the full-page search). I found an interesting article on Tech Crunch about how they implemented Yahoo Boss: http://www.techcrunch.com/2008/11/26/techcrunchs-new-search-engine-powered-by-yahoo-boss/ One of the key things that they do is manually feed data to Yahoo via XML. PHP problem
Hi, I'm having problems running my PHP. I am pretty new to PHP so please forgive me. First I created a small echo statement within my HTML, this loads fine, showing all my HTML and PH. Then I tried to connect to my mysql database and if it could not connect, then bring up an error message, and if it connected to say connected. This was fine and connected. I could even edit the database with a few queries. When I try to select data from the database or even a simple echo statement below my connection code the screen goes blank. Can you help???? Looking for Win32 pecl package
I'm trying to find windows pecl packages that match releases as reference in the comments on this page: http://www.php.net/manual/en/memcache.installation.php. The download page (http://php.net/downloads.php) also implies that there is a single pecl-5.2.6 release containing multiple extensions. Do these files still exist? If so, can someone link me to them? Live Search
Hi Hannes and Philip, I've done some work on the back-end for a live, search-as-you-type, feature. I have written a more specialized version of manual-lookup.php that I have tentatively called search-api.php. This script differs from manual-lookup in that it produces JSON output and has been tweaked to run a bit faster. I have also tuned the 'scoring' logic to (hopefully) produce more relevant results. On my machine it completes in 30ms vs. 112ms for manual-lookup.php. On a real-world PHP mirror, it will run slower. Testing this morning, my nearest mirror (ca.php.net) takes 337ms |
